Symposium Summary Report: Belgium United Against Meningitis: Towards 2030” (FR/NL)
World Meningitis Day, held on 5 October, aims to raise awareness of this rare but potentially fatal disease, which primarily affects infants and young children. This mission is fully aligned with the objectives of the BAoP, which works to protect and advocate for the most vulnerable children.
On 2 October 2025, the BAoP brought together policymakers, experts, and witnesses at the Federal Parliament in Brussels to raise awareness about meningitis and its consequences, while highlighting the importance of continued efforts to combat this disease.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has set the goal of reducing deaths and disabilities caused by meningitis by 2030 [1]. The BAoP calls on policymakers to commit to this global strategy by strengthening vaccination coverage — particularly among infants and adolescents — improving epidemiological surveillance, and supporting families.
The summary report of this event is available in French and Dutch.
